Outrageously Expensive Cars

Cars can be very expensive. However, well-made cars seem almost worth it. Well-made cars are attractive based on their speed, power and luxury. Not all cars decrease in value when they leave the lot; some cars accrue it. Sir Stirling Moss’s apple-green 50-years-old 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO sold for $35 million in 2012. Even fixing expensive cars is no joke. Rowan Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 and it took 910,000 pounds to fix it. Oddly, the insurance company actually took the claim and fixed the car because it was just that awesome—and worth over 3 million pounds once fixed. The following cars are the most expensive cars that you can buy brand new and drive off the lot in:

1. Aston Martin One-77

This beautiful two-door sports coupe lives up to its name: only 77 of these cars were ever made. This car was introduced in Geneva, Switzerland at a car show in 2009. It was only manufactured from 2009 to 2012. This car can go from 0-60 miles per hour in 3.4 seconds, has a top speed of 220 miles per hour (mph) and has 750 Brake Horse Power (BPH). The price is a staggering 1,200,000 pounds.

2. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport

This French-made Volkswagen coupe is the fastest car in the world going to 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds. This car speed up to a mind boggling 268 mph. The reason why this car is so incredibly fast is because it is made out of carbon fiber, threads of polymer acrylic strands carbonized at incredibly high temperature (1400 oC). This plastic is incredibly light, allowing the car to reach much faster speeds. The engine isn’t terrible either with 1001 BHP. This car sells for 1,500,000 pounds.

3. Ferrari 599XX

This luxurious Italian sports car isn’t far behind the Bugatti Beyron 16.4 Super Sport going from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds and 720 BHP. That’s only two-tenths of a second behind the Bugatti for those of you who are having trouble with your addition this morning. This car is made for racing and reaches 196 mph and has a rev limiter at 9000 rpm. This car sells for 1,300,000 pounds.

4. Koenigsegg Agera R

This car was released at the same Geneva Motor Show as the Aston Martin One-77 three years later. It also goes from 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. It reaches a whopping 260 mph, breaking six land speed records at time of release, and has an engine power of 1115 BHP. This car sells for 1,000,000 pounds.

5. Lamorghini Veneno

This car, marketed at a whopping 2,000,000 pounds, can reach 60 mph after only 2.8 seconds and it keeps on going until it hits 221 mph fueled by a 750 BHP engine. According to Lamborghini himself, the car is named after “one of the strongest and most aggressive fighting bulls ever” and was created to celebrate the company’s 50th birthday.

6. Maybach Exelero

The Maybach Exelero may tip the price scales at 3,100,000 pounds. Its 700 BHP engine speeds up from 0 mph to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and tops out at 218 mph. This sleek panther of a car is a one-of-a-kind custom made vehicle revealed in Berlin in May 2005 and was designed by students at a nearby German university. The car’s design was inspired by the elegance of a limousine but the power of the racetrack with a V12 twin turbo engine.

7. Maybach Landaulet

This car, another luxurious Maybach, is slightly more affordable at 890,000 pounds. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in a conservative 5.2 seconds and its 604 BHP engine tops out at 155 mph. However, this car does come complete with electric sliding curtains, an internal intercom system and an external communication system to say hey to other drivers through.

8. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

This Italian car runs very similarly to the Bugatti Veyron. Reaching 60 mph in 3.4 seconds because of 678 BHP, the Pagini Zonda Cinque Roadster tops out at 217 mph. There are only 5 of these gorgeous roadsters in existence. This car was meant to zoom along the racetrack as well as the back country roads of Europe with ease. The car is worth 1,200,000 pounds.

9. Rolls-Royce Hyperion Pininfarina

This stylish, classic Rolls-Royce hints at 1930s design. It is a bit more conservative than the rest and goes from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds and hits maximum speed at 155 mph fueled by a 460 BPH engine. Marketed at a cool 2,300,000 pounds, this car will transport anyone back in time to a more luxurious age. This car is one of a kind and more of a piece of art.

10. Zenvo ST1

Danish Zenvo has only produced 15 of these powerful cars. These cars are also made of carbon fiber, but they were made for the road and the track. The car can vacillate seamlessly back and forth between the road and the track because it features complete control over how much engine BPH is released depending on one of three modes the car can be in. This car can go from 0-60 sec in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 233 mph. The engine features an astounding 1250 HP. It is worth 1,150,000 pounds.
