The surf and skate industry gains $6 billion a year in retail sales, seeing small growth in recent years. With more than 300 suppliers, product sales have remain strong with stand up paddleboards become more of a growing trend. Surfing retailers received higher average in store revenues, generating more than $760 million in sales. Related apparel sales brought in $159 million with equipment adding an additional $150 million. There is a substantial difference in the surf and skate industry when it comes to the west coast versus east cost. West coast stores tend to be larger and see an average of $396 in sales per square foot versus east coast stores that receive $183 average per square foot.
