This was a 10.9% increase with an overall industry value of 7.3 billion francs. Gold watches have been trending resulting in a 20.5% increase with steel timepieces achieving higher value. The Swiss watch industry is known to produce quality items as their current statistics imply with increasing demand.
More than half of the units produced in the Swiss watch industry are made of steel. However, 39% of valued watches are made with precious metals. A combination of gold and steel account for 16% of the valued watches produced.
