The forecast looks great for franchise owners in 2014. The total output of franchise establishments is expected to increase by $38 billion, which will be an increase of 4.7 percent. In addition to these great output numbers, the total number of franchise establishments will increase by 12,915. This will amount to an increase of 192,000 jobs.
All of these positive KPIs point toward a continued growth that turned around in 2012 after three down years. There are four sectors that are going to have a 5% or greater increase in output, which are business services, lodging, quick service restaurants, and real estate.
The food and hospitality sector is expected to dominate the overall employment distribution in 2014. It is expected to make up 65% of total employment for franchises.
