8 Ways to Eliminate Stress

Eliminate-Stress

Stress can be triggered at any time. Maybe you have a tight deadline to meet. You’ve got bills you’re not sure will get paid. There’s a test you need to take. It happens to all of us.

Thankfully, there are some ways to cope with that stress right away, so that you are not negatively impacted by it. These methods can reduce stress levels in 15 minutes or less.

1) Take a Deep Breath.
The act of taking a deep breath begins to reduce cortisol levels in the body. That helps to relieve feelings of stress, as high cortisol levels are directly associated with high levels of stress and anxiety.

2) Pick a Pose.
Certain Yoga poses help to release the perception of tension held within the brain. Certain poses, such as the Child’s Pose, are known to release muscle tension as well. By encouraging your body to relax, you’ll help to reduce stress levels at the same time.

3) Get Some Exercise.
When you exercise, your body begins to produce endorphins, which help you to feel better and focus on something other than something stressful. You’ll gain physical benefits from the exercise too. A little exercise can even give your creativity a boost.

4) Get Some Sleep.
Stress tends to appear more often when you’re not getting enough sleep at night. When you sleep, your body works to reduce cortisol levels. Try taking a power nap during your lunch break to see how you feel afterward. If a nap is not an option, close your eyes and breathe deeply for about 5 minutes.

5) Color in the Lines.
The processes which are engaged through coloring are similar to how the brain reacts to meditation. By focusing on the artwork you’re creating, your brain will switch off from the stress it is experience.

6) Hug a Loved One.
Twenty seconds of physical contact with someone you love reduces blood pressure levels. It will also reduce stress levels. Hugging anyone will create these benefits. You might find that hugging a stranger is a little awkward, however, so stick with family and friends.

7) Get Up Early.
Give yourself some time to plan for the day. Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier than necessary. Then plot out what you can do that day to avoid stressful situations.

Stress can be problematic. It can also be managed with these ideas to create more peacefulness every day.
