Sleeping Habits of Rich and Powerful People

Habits-of-Rich-and-Powerful

Here is a summary of the main highlights from this infographic…

1) If You Get Only a Small Amount of Sleep, You Are In Good Company.
There are a surprising number of famous historical and contemporary figures that get surprisingly small amounts of sleep per day. For example, Donald Trump who is known for his casinos, business enterprises, and occasional run for office, gets approximately 3 hours of sleep every night. This is the same number of hours as Thomas Edison. Getting even less hours of sleep is Nikola Tesla at 2 hours of sleep per night. This may be in part what led to his emotional breakdown in his mid twenties, as sleep deprivation can have terrible effects on some people. However, this didn’t seem to affect Leonardo Da Vinci, who slept in 20 minute spurts every four hours through a polyphasic sleep cycle.

2) 4 to 5 Hours of Sleep Puts You In With Some Notable Figures.
The majority of people out there get more then 4 hours of sleep a night. In particular, musicians, politicians, and some of the greatest creative minds required even more sleep. Heading up the music creation was Voltaire and Mozart. Voltaire was known to get 4 hours of sleep every night. He helped to stay awake through an incredible coffee addiction that saw him drink upwards of 30 cups of coffee every day. Mozart on the other hand would get 5 hours of sleep on average, extending from 1am to 6am every day. Thatcher, the famous British Primer Minister managed to get along on just 4 hours of sleep per day as well.

3) If You Try To Get A Good Night Sleep, Then You Are Not The Only One.
A number of notable figures get at least 6 hours of sleep. While no doubt wanting to get more, the various offices they held and events of their time afforded them little sleep. President Barack Obama for example loves getting to sleep for 6 hours if he can. In addition, Churchill would frequently get a total of 6 hours of sleep a day. However for Churchill, he would usually take 4 hours of sleep at night, and then 2 hours of sleep later in the day during one of his well known ‘naps.’ As a final consideration, Benjamin Franklin managed to get 6 hours of sleep per night. A strong advocate of a sensible sleep cycle, Franklin was known for getting to bed early and waking up at the crack of dawn.
