Because of this, they do not receive the following protections of access to certified athletic trainers or well maintained practice facilities. 71% of related injuries in women occur in college with 65% of injuries in high school. After football, cheerleading is considered the leading cause of injuries with its participants. Last year, approximately 37,000 cheerleader found themselves in the emergency room as a result of obtaining an injury from cheerleading.
