Technology moves at the speed of light. Along with technology comes everything we people like to do. From interesting memes to sharing information with those we love, things can come and go very quickly. Something that seems to be sticking around however is the selfie. The selfie is a picture taken by you of you, usually with your hand extended out, holding the camera that will take the picture. Selfies have exploded in popular culture, and have become their own kind of meme.
If you want to take excellent selfies, then you are going to have a lot of competition. Over 1 million selfies are taken every day. Standing out in this crowd will require knowing a few simple tricks. Lets take a quick look at some selfie suggestions that can make your next selfie awesome.
Context is Critical
Selfies are considered by many as narcissistic. That is, people take them simply to see themselves, serving little other purpose. Help combat this by adding context. Context explains why you’ve taken the picture, and what is important about the picture. Are you taking it with a friend you rarely get to see? Is this the first selfie after you have mastered a make-up technique? Are you volunteering your time for others? Whatever the reason, make sure other people know and they will be less likely to judge.
Background is Key
A selfie comprises three things. They are you, the context for the selfie, and the background. More often then not, people will completely ignore the background, throwing away the one thing that can make their selfie awesome. Consider taking a selfie at the beach. There are a number of ways you can take the shot that will show off a beautiful background, while there are other shots that may only show beach or nothing interesting at all. With a little bit of time, you can make the shot really stand out.
New Tech is the Future
Selfies, like technology, are evolving. By hopping on the band wagon in regards to technology, you can make sure you are on the cutting edge of selfies. Tech means using new apps to make the selfie stand out, using tripods, and/or scopes. There are a million things you can do with a selfie, and if you are the first person to do it, you will definitely stand out.
