The deodorant industry say increasing shifts and changes in the marketplace with the addition of body mists and sprays. This brought the market segment to almost $300 million. Luxury brands such as Ralph Lauren and Victoria’s Secret have jumped into this industry with their own premium fragrance and mist offerings. An overall projected growth of 8% to a total value of $3.2 billion is expected by 2017. A shift to more organic and natural varieties are expected to shift in the marketplace. Protect & Gamble and Unilever account for over 65% of the market share and are known for producing some of the biggest brands from Axe, Dove, and Suave, to Degree deodorants. Individual brand share alone can account for more than 30% of the market making this industry fierce in competition.
