History of Panda
On February 24, 2011, Panda 1.0 focused on content based websites which was comprised of extremely low quality pages, typically generated by online users. On September 30, 2011, Panda 2.5 consisted of an upgrade to the algorithm which moved quite a few large websites further up the search results ranking. Search engine optimization experts conveyed the significance of quality content necessary to drive links. Panda 3.1 was a minor adjustment which only affected 1% of all search results.
Newest Update Changes
In January of 2012, a 30 pack of tweaks included Megasitelinks which enabled searches to display site links specific to your Metropolitan area. Searches for images were updated to look for both relevancy and highest quality. A spam detection algorithm was also linked to image searches. The most recent update to Google included Google+ social data as well as user profiles into SERP’s. This form of social personalization can easily be turned on or off based on your individual preference.
