The study also reveals that about 10% of individuals who listed at least one job on their profiles have been able to work for a 500 Fortune company. On the other hand, approximately 7% of generation Y’s Facebook users are employed by a 500 Fortune company.

Top Ten Industries and Employers

The leading industries where generation Y is absorbed is Travel and Hospitality, Consumer products, Government and Military, Technology, Education, Retail and Fashion, Finance, Media, Medical and Health care and Non-profit organizations at 7.2, 6.8, 4.5, 4.4, 3.9, 3.6, 3.3, 2.3, 2.1 and 1.7 respectively. However, most of them are employed by the Armed forces, Walmart, Starbucks, Target, Best Buy, Abercrombie and Fitch, YMCA, CVS Caremark and UPS.

Top Ten Job Titles

According to the study, it is also established that most of the job titles that a number of people falling into the category of Generation Y include on their profiles range from server, manager, intern, sales associate, owner, cashier, teacher, supervisor, assistant to sales representative.

Making Friends

At least 82% of Generation Y has got a work friend with 53%having more than five friends at their places of work. However, over 40% are indicated to have more than ten friends at work. Besides, the study also reveals that their average work friend count is 16 while the total friend count stands at 696.
