According to the National Association of College and University Business Officers, the average endowment generated a loss of 0.3% from the previous year. However, the 10 year return of endowments received has been 6.2%.
The average endowment received was approximately $330 million. Of the 71 colleges and universities that received endowments in excess of $1 billion did earn an average return of 0.8%.
