20 Tips for Staying Hyper Focused at Work

Staying-Hyper-Focused

It happens to the best of us – you head into work or sit down at your home office with the best of intentions, but no matter what you do, you can’t seem to stay focused. Maybe you were up too late or just find your work boring. Perhaps you have a big event to look forward to and are finding it really distracting. Whatever the reason is, if you really need to focus and get work done then check out the tips below to help you have a productive day.

1) Write Down Your Ideas
It has probably happened to you – you have a great idea and think to yourself that you’ll write it down later. When you go to do that it’s gone. It’s best to write down your ideas immediately as you come to them. This will let you stay focused on what you’re doing since you can rest assured you’ll come back to the idea later.

2) Prioritize and Focus on One Thing
Take your to-do list and prioritize it first thing in the morning. This will let you get your most difficult or boring tasks out of the way quickly to free up the rest of your day. Once you have your list, make sure to concentrate on one thing at a time to ensure it has your full attention and will be completed quickly.

3) Limit Distractions and Take Breaks
In order to be able to stay on task you need to cut down on the amount of distractions in your day. One way to do this is to turn off your email notifications. Only check your phone and social media accounts during set breaks throughout the day. Not only will this keep you from scrolling Facebook when you should be working, but having set breaks gives you something to look forward to.

4) Take a Walk
While it may seem counter intuitive to stop what you’re doing to walk around, getting a little bit of exercise during the day is a great way to keep you awake and your blood pumping. You’ll come back to your desk refreshed and ready to work.

5) Keep it Short
Phone calls have to happen throughout the day, but they shouldn’t take up a lot of your time. Convey the information you need to, then hang up. Otherwise you’ll easily waste part of your morning chatting.

Try these tips to help you stay focused on what you’re working on. While it may seem like an uphill battle to get through your work, these tips can help you be more productive.
