Athina Onassis Net Worth
Athina Onassis de Miranda is the sole surviving heir to Aristotle Onassis shipping wealth. Her wealth is largely attributed to her famous family, although Athina has made a name for herself as a competitive show jumper. Her fortune is believe to be worth the following.
Net Worth: $1 Billion
Athina Onassis has experience her own misfortune with legal problems surrounding her inheritance. A trust fund had the funds locked up and controlled by the Board of Directors at the Onassis Company. This has caused her scrutiny over being considered a legitimate “billionaire heiress” although she is often referred to as one.
At the age of 18, Athina was of legal age to take control over her inheritance and instead on her 21st birthday decided she did not want to become president of the Onassis Foundation as expected. The Foundation Board stated that they were reluctant to turn over control as well due to Athina’s lack in qualifications and denied that she was ever to be a heir to the estate of Aristotle Onassis.
Athina Onassis started her career in competitive jumping as a teenager. To connect with her Greek heritage, she reinstated her Greek name and learned the language.
She spent time with her ex-husband traveling throughout the year with the Global Champions Tour. She was made an official patroness with the Rio de Janeiro leg of the tour named the Athina Onassis International Horse Show established in 2007.
At the young age of 28, Athina has already been married and divorced. She suffered a spinal injury in a fall from her horse in November 2012 but is set to return to competing in January 2013.
