How the Color of Your Clothes Impacts Your First Date

Clothes-Impacts

Psychologists have long known that color affects mood and even your overall impression of a person, object or space. Designers and interior decorators also know this and will use certain colors in different rooms of the home, to create a peaceful atmosphere or to infuse the space with energy. If you’re looking to impress a date, you can also use this psychology of color to your advantage and choose your outfit accordingly.

Passion, Energy and Authority

Red is the color of passion and many men are drawn to a woman in red without even realizing it. Yellow and orange are colors of energy, and black is a color of authority. If you’re looking to impress your date or want to look your best, try red to bring color to your skin and to evoke a sense of sexual energy. If you’re the adventurous type and want to show your enthusiasm for life, orange and yellow are the best choices. For a more authoritative look, black is serious neutral and can also be very somber and very commanding.

Kindness and Compassion, Wisdom and Trust

Green is a strong earth color and can make a person look kind and compassionate, and also very natural. Blue is a color that evokes a sense of calm and that can make a person look wise and trustworthy. It’s often recommended that a person wear blue to a job interview as it’s serious without being as dull as the color black, and it’s also a good choice for a first date as its bold yet neutral.

Luxury and Depth

Purple is often associated with luxury and royalty, and it’s a strong color that may convey a sense of depth and creativity. Women may want to choose this color if they want to demonstrate their artistic side and men can also choose a purple tie or other accessory to convey a sense of emotion.

Neutral and Cool

White is the most neutral color you might choose on a date, and it’s timeless as well as polished and even professional. If you’re afraid of looking too dull when you wear white, choose some accessories to add splashes of color. For men, this might include a red or blue tie or sweater, and for women, a bright scarf or jacket can be the best choice.

Note your colors carefully when on a date and you’re sure to impress.
