4 Ways to Turn a Bad Day into a Great Day

Turn-a-Bad-Day

No one day is like any other, some days you feel like you are on top of the world while the next the world is on top of you. Without a change of attitude, your negativity levels can soar and fluctuate causing you bad days. With the following tips, you will master positivity, take control of your life, and forget about bad days.

1) Manage the Situation
Shawn Achor, in the book, The Happiness Advantage, says, “Happiness is a choice.” With this quote, you can get to the root of what is causing you bad days and do something to turn it around for the better. Point out the cause of your bad day and logically examine what went wrong to bring your spirits low.

Re-evaluate the situation and focus on gaining an understanding of how the situation came into being then rate it on how serious it is on a scale of 1-10. This way you will have the tools necessary to re-prioritize your options and avoid a domino effect to avoid ruining the rest of your day.

2) Change your Outlook
Focusing on positivity will push your negative thoughts aside. Think about all the things and situations you are grateful for in your life and make a list. This will make your bad day seem to be just a minor issue when you see all the good things that are happening in your life. Make an effort to learn from the mistakes that regularly make your day a bad one and work on avoid them. Taking breaks is a good way to revitalize your mood by changing the scene associated with your negative mood.

3) Fix your Mood
Doing the things that make you happy should be in the list of how to fix your mood. The things that make you laugh will uplift your spirit, and you can watch ‘fail videos’ on YouTube or search for jokes on your favorite search engine. Changing your routine will also help in fixing your mood like taking a different route to work or ordering something you have never had for lunch.

Friends make the world a better place and sharing what is bringing your mood down will help you to reverse your foul mood into a happy one. A problem shared is a problem half solved.

Finally, focus on your body and mind by exercising. Exercise stimulates endorphins a natural feel good hormone that will break out the negativity by giving you a boost of happiness. Breathing deeply for ten minutes has its benefits of reducing stress. If everything else fails, take a shower, you will feel fresh and rejuvenated.
